Wonder & Wisdom Seeks Executive Director

Dear Friends,

Wonder & Wisdom is looking for a Fabulous Fit Executive Director. The position is currently filled by Trish Alley (Founder) and Tara Reynolds. Trish will remain as President of the Board. She wishes to relinquish her daily W&W responsibilities in light of other demands on her time personally and professionally. Her other professional interests will no doubt continue to support the growth and wellbeing of Wonder & Wisdom. Tara has taken on a number of responsibilities for W&W over the last five years in addition to the overflow from Trish. She is now the happy mother of a little girl, and she needs to find a healthy balance between work and family. She will remain on the W&W Board and continue in her leadership capacity with The Wisdom Connection with Trish.

Wonder & Wisdom has taken steps in this direction before. We have learned a lot. We know that the Executive Director of Wonder & Wisdom must be more than a skilled administrator. We know that this is a leadership role in our community, and accordingly, this person must be highly engaged and regarded in the community. We joke in all seriousness that a community interview may be appropriate! While Greensboro is a small community, generational poverty and cultural and intellectual sophistication are both strongly represented here. Our E.D. must live comfortably with both. Our intimate size means that we know and care for each other and that discernment about privacy is essential. Our small size requires that we invest our resources wisely and strategically. There are many challenges here, AND it is a wonderful place to create and practice a communal attitude of loving kindness. Our E.D. must be good at living in the middle of paradox.

This is an excellent time for Wonder & Wisdom to make this move. We have an amazing staff across the board. We have a good Board of Directors. Staff meetings are a treat! Our Programs are all healthy. We are asking you to help us find this very special person. You may receive this letter because we would like someone like you (so you know what we are looking for) and/or because you know us well, understand our needs, and have your own good network. We would very much like to have this person on board before summer. If this person is not currently a member of our community, the sooner she/he arrives, the better. Summer in Greensboro, as you all know, is a whirlwind experience!
